Cubenen Gardens: Befriend

The Gardens is a world inhabited by cartoon animals and friendly cube people known as cubenen. This city is separated into seven districts, atop a concrete island, in a sea of ink.
This world is also home to hostile monsters, abstract and strange in design. They manifest where hope has been lost, and terrorize citizens.

You play as Michael, a nerdy kangaroo inventor from the Tech District. They have a lifelong goal of making monsters less of a threat to society. And their research takes them to the abandoned offices of the Mall District to test a theory regarding how monsters relate to the memories of the deceased. Things go well, but then they get caught up in a corporate nightmare. Slowly breaking them down and leaving them desperately searching for a way to escape.

Cubenen Gardens: Befriend is a story-driven indie RPG created with RPG Maker MZ. The full game is releasing in chapters over on my itch,io page. There are 10 planned in total (currently 6 are complete!)

Last year I submitted my project to SAGE with the first two chapters available. This year is more or less the same project with several small fixes here and there, although Ch. 3 is now fully playable as well!
If you played this demo last year and hung onto your save, you can actually pick up where you left off! Just take your save file from the "save" folder and place it within the same folder of this version.
If you didn't keep your save but would like to start at Ch. 3 anyway, I have provided a save file starting from that point on this demo's itch.io page.

To play, download and unzip the files for the game. Within the files, run the application called Game.exe.
Fair warning that this is a beefy "demo"! Expect this to take roughly between 3-5 hours.
You are more than welcome to Let's Play or stream this! In fact, feel free to link your playthroughs to me, I would love to watch them!
And obviously, please contact me if you run into any issues. I always get nervous I missed something big.
