Sonic Essence is an original 2D Modern Sonic adventure built with the Retro Engine V4 Decompilation. It features completely original sprites, levels, badniks, and an all-new soundtrack featuring remixes and original compositions! This project aims to push the potential of Retro Engine (V4) modding to show the fresh and new experiences the decompilation can offer!
The Next Splash demo is a refined version of the demo seen at the Sonic Hacking Contest 2023 (which included Windmill Isle, 2 acts of Seaside Splash Zone, Modern Sonic with a variety of moves such as the air dash, light speed dash, stomp and wall jump), with new additions like an overhauled Seaside Splash act 1, an extended Windmill Isle, new voice lines for Sonic, a bounce ability replacing the stomp, and a variety of other fixes and tweaks!

Months after Dark Gaia almost destroyed the world, Sonic gets an urgent transmission from Tails: Eggman and his mechs are back. Only this time, he's an even bigger threat to the world with his new ultimate power source: The Soul Sapphire. Its energy allows the essence of life itself to be drained and used in his diabolical machines. His ultimate plan? To destroy the Chaos Emeralds once and for all and take the chaos energy for himself. With the world in danger once again, Sonic does what he does best: Run. It’s all up to him to find the Chaos Emeralds and stop the Doctor’s plans!
